Hurricane Hazel Personal Accounts

I was only 8 years old ... but, I remember waking up during the night and hearing everyone talking about the hurricane. I remember watching and listening to the storm through the window. My parents did not sleep at all that night wondering if we would have to be evacuated.

We lived up hill from the Humber near Bloor and Islington. I didn't know much about what a hurricane was, or what a hurricane could do. What stands out in my mind most is hearing that bodies were washing up against the baseball net in our park. The park was down in a hollow next to the Humber River. I will never forget how frightening that was.
